50th ANNIVERSARY EVENTS

Pleasantville Children's Center opened its doors in 1972 and began educating and nurturing our community's youngest learners. For a half century, PCC has been flourishing. We invited families, both past, present and future as well as friends and community partners to join us in celebrating 50 wonderful years on June 1, 2023 at The Thorn of Thornwood Restaurant and Bar. Thank you to all who were able to attend. Enjoy some event highlights and photos below.

A very special thank you to Ainsley Cunningham, a local high school student, for working with us to design a new, limited time logo as part of her mission to assist non-profits in digital design and marketing. We love our special anniversary logo!  Thanks, Ainsley!

May 17, 2023- The Pleasantville Chamber of Commerce commemorated our 50th anniversary with a ribbon cutting event. PCTV recorded the festivities. It was a gorgeous day for a momentous celebration. Thank you to all who attended- PCC parents and kids included!

Little Free Library
At our Ribbon Cutting event on May 17th, we unveiled Pleasantville's first official Little Free Library. Modeled after our school building (thank you PCC parent, Jim Mongello!), the Little Free Library is a gift from our school to the children and community we love so much, especially the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church (while not affiliated, PCC rents the school space from the church and has been at this location for 50 years). It is dedicated to the memory of Elizabeth "Betsy" Rogers, a founding member of PCC who recently passed away.

The Library is located on Bedford Road between the Presbyterian Church and Beecher Flooks Funeral Home. For more information about the Little Free Library organization, please visit their website: www.littlefreelibrary.org

"PCC for Good" Fund
At our 50th Anniversary Event on June 1st, we held a silent auction to establish our "PCC for Good" fund: an fund that may be used to better the greater Pleasantville community including, for example, by offering subsidized attendance to low income families, providing emergency support to families suffering unexpected loss, but may be used in any other manner the Board deems appropriate. Thank you to our fantastic Board of Directors for establishing this fund. The fund is also established in memory of Barbara Waugh (b. 1930, d. 2022), a founding member of the school in 1972. Our silent auction as well as any donations received specifically for the fund raised $2085.36! Thank you so much!
